♥️♥️ Valentine’s Day! ♥️♥️

Another day of waiting, but we finally got confirmation of a bed at the Kaiser Foundation Rehabilitation Center and he is scheduled to leave tomorrow.

Another successful day of PT. Tyler got compression socks to help manage the orthostatic hypotension and a binder that helps him with posture and stability. He sat up for twice as long as his previous try (5 minutes) and he even did an extra set of side-to-side lateral moves. It’s hard work, he was sweating hard by the end!

He told me that he and our friend Jeff decided to revise the cyclists Rule 5. The Rules were authored by a cycling group The Velominati founded in 2009. Their most famous rule is Rule 5: Harden the Fuck Up. A controversial but oft-used rule meant to remind you to push further than what you think you can do. It also easily follows the path of insipid toxic macho bullshit and deserves a revision. Rule 5 revised means “Full send”, that is commit 100% to your goal, expect failure, fail, learn, and repeat.

That’s how I understand it anyway, but I’ll let Tyler talk more about it when he’s ready. I anticipate a shift in these updates, and Tyler will begin to contribute as he gets stronger.

Not much else to report today. Our Valentine’s hospital date night plans were scuttled by me and a possible oncoming head cold. But since his accident it is so hard to be a part. Coming so close to losing him, I just want to grab hold and never let him go.*

*He would tell me this is unreasonable and impractical and that I do need to sleep in a bed,  shower, and walk around from time to time 😉
