Tough day

Tough day
Restraints so he doesn't pull out his vent.

Tyler’s GI is having movement trouble which is causing a backup and lots of bloat. All of this backup and bloat is pushing up against his diaphragm and making it hard for him to breathe. When I arrived, his oxygen levels dropped to 80% he required a full oxygen mask. It wasn’t doing the trick, so they prepared him for intubation.

The goal is to get his GI back on track which will make breathing much easier. So I’m pretty scared, but I also have a good understanding of what’s going and this is the right course of action to get his GI time to settle down, give him all the air he needs, and quite frankly, let him sleep uninterrupted.

I’ll have another update tomorrow, love you all!
