Exhausted and here.

I seem to have bypassed a head cold (thanks to Dallas for sending a care package that included ginger-turmeric shots and vitamin C lozenges🔥)

Since it’s a weekend, Tyler’s schedule was lowkey. But don’t get it twisted, he worked HARD. Despite losing 20 pounds, he still has 215 pounds to move from bed to chair powered only by his arms. And throw in some OH (remember our friend orthostatic hypotension?) and it’s some of the hardest work he can do.

He’s also had some leg spasms. The spasms are a result of the interrupted signal between his spinal cord and the nerves in his legs. They are a normal part of SCI recovery and so far don’t seem to be bad enough that they need further treatment. Spasms can be short or long-term, it just depends on how his body responds to the injury. Spinal cord injuries take years to recover, and recovery does not mean a return to his former self. This is an entirely new body he is working with, one that may not ever walk again. The reality of this hits him in waves, and me too. But the best way out is always through.
