Always bring a towel

Quiet day, but he's doing okay today. Tyler is still intubated, but after talking with the docs and getting consult from one Ralph Mitchell, PA-C (♥️, my Dad), I have a better understanding of Tyler’s status.

GI issues are incredibly common for patients with traumatic spinal cord injuries and so intubation allows for Tyler to rest and allow for his gut to reset. Today, I was at the hospital at 6:45am to attend rounds and listen in on their assessment of Tyler. He’s looking much better with less belly distention. And so now we’re waiting for his gut clear.

I hung out a bit with my cousin Nicole — she brought donuts to an always grateful ICU staff — and I read Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy to him.

More tomorrow!
