A whole lotta waiting today.

A whole lotta waiting today.

We are on the first day of an atmospheric river so we continue to wait for transport to rehab. it’s possible the ambulances were all occupied with various other accidents and traffic. (Insert joke about Californians not knowing how to drive in the rain)

Today’s PT/OT felt a bit like a setback. He experienced a serious bout of orthostatic hypotension during his PT session today. Tyler always had low blood pressure and would get dizzy when standing up too fast. In this case, his previous “standing too fast and fainting” thing was made worse by the lack of tone in his legs. Basically, he can’t pump enough blood back to his heart when he’s in a seated position. And of course, all of this is exacerbated by his clinically massive thighs and their prodigious vascular capacity.😉

Despite this humblebrag setback, Tyler did hit a milestone last night: he was able to pull his entire body up to adjust himself in bed, this wasn’t possible for him just two days ago.

He’s ready for rehab.

His throat is feeling much better, but that’s due in large part to not speaking a whole lot. He likely overdid it today, but gladly so. He caught up on phone calls with faraway friends and family who haven’t heard his voice since the accident. So tomorrow may be more hoarse than today. Also, he checked in on our national hellscape of current events, and well  . . .

What do you mean Google Maps and Apple Maps changed to “Gulf of America”??
